What is the difference between hospice and an End-of-Life Doula?
Hospice is a wonderful organization that provides highly skilled, compassionate and caring medical professionals and support services to the patient and their families. Hospice provides invaluable education and tools that are critical for a positive end of life experience. Having to provide 24-hour care at the end of life can be overwhelming at times for the caregivers. End-Of-Life Doulas can provide relief and fill in the gaps, providing support to the family. Helping to support to create a beautiful space and uphold the sacredness of the dying process.
The End-of-Life Doula does not take the place of hospice. They are a wonderful ally and support person that work alongside other providers, following and reinforcing established plans for care already established by hospice with the family.
The End-Of-Life Doula will not administer medications or perform any medical procedures.
The End-of Life Doula will follow HIPAA guidelines for privacy.
End-Of-Life Doula services are not covered by insurance.
